New York 1980

Bushwick circa 1980, looking pretty much the same

Check out this great collection of New York City photographs by Steven Siegel. He started taking these pictures in the 1980’s, when New York City was a different place. When the streets were filled with homeless people and open drug dealing. When you couldn’t stop at a red light without being assaulted by ten different people wanting to wash your windows and staring you down if you didn’t want to give them change. While I was never a fan of Rudy Giuliani, I don’t miss getting my windows washed with dirty water.
