Jack Dracula by Diane Arbus

“Jack Dracula, the Marked Man, is embellished with 306 tattoos (estimated value: $6000), and although this work-in-progress conspicuously distinguishes him, he is living in seclusion and I have solemnly sworn not to reveal his whereabouts” - Diane Arbus in Harper’s Bazaar, 1961. Diane Arbus was a renowned New York City photographer who found many of her first subjects throughout the city. Arbus’ portraiture put citizens in front of the lens instead of celebrity, often choosing subjects with unusual life stories. For more work by Arbus, check out her book Revelations, featuring many of her early New York portraits. Read more about Jack Dracula here.
